Here at Perth Corporate Massage, this year has been about challenges met and goals achieved. We see people in different fields, as we go about our work and you can feel that many of us around Perth are approaching Christmas and the holidays with a huge sense of relief.
Who doesn’t love that Yuletide break? And a lovely massage?
Hopefully, if you’re one of our clients, you’ll already be feeling more relieved and relaxed than usual! We excel in Seated Massage (or Chair Massage) in various workplaces and always get great feedback. Sometimes, clients inquire about Table Massage. We love discussing what we do and are always ready to guide you to the best that massage can provide. More on this momentarily, but first a quick look back.
History of Healing
Massage is one of the oldest healing traditions (here’s a more detailed article on the history by the Florida Academy). Many ancient peoples – such as the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Chinese – were skilled practitioners of massage and used it to treat a variety of ailments.
Massage today, is still the practice of kneading or manipulating a person’s muscles and other soft-tissue, in order to improve their wellbeing and health. It includes moving, and applying pressure to
- muscles,
- tendons,
- ligaments and
- fascia.
There are a wide variety of techniques in which touch, pressure and the intensity of the massage is applied.
There is, of course, a great deal of knowledge that has been brought into massage in the modern era. Our understanding of the human mind and body is so much more precise and detailed in the 21st Century. Peoples of the past had to trust in tradition, now we can measure scientifically the effects of massage therapy on the human body and what how it can serve our daily health requirements. The more we study massage therapy, the more it becomes evident that the benefits are enormous.
Benefits
- relaxation
- reduced muscle tension
- improved circulation
- reduction of stress hormones
- increased joint mobility and flexibility
- heightened mental alertness
- reduced anxiety and depression

Table Massage
Perth Corporate Massage clients do ask about the differences in a table massage versus a seated massage. We note that some may prefer a seated massage over a table massage or vice versa.
A table massage or what many think of as a “regular massage” and is performed with the client laying down on a massage table. The client can be prone on their belly or on their back or lying on their side. The tables are often very comfortable with padding and sanitary linens. It depends on the client, but we find those who prefer a table massage often prefer a longer massage than our chair clients.
Clients will get the clear benefits, such as relaxation, reduction of muscle tension, and decreased knots.
Seated Massage
The Seated Massage can be more comfortable for people who do not like to lay down. Various health conditions may also cause discomfort on a table vs a chair. For example, when people have difficulty breathing they may prefer to remain seated.
Here, the therapist sets up a chair and provides a massage to the recipient’s back, shoulders, neck, arms and hands. For best therapeutic results, we ask the company to allocate a separate room where the therapist can set up their equipment and play relaxing music. Recommended massage time is 15 or 20 minutes per person
Workstation Seated Massage
This involves the therapist offering a short massage at your team member’s desk. The therapist will massage each person’s back, shoulders, neck, head, arms and hands.
Recommended massage time is 10-15 minutes per person, but can be shorter on request.
Try It and See
If you’re new to massage (and a surprising number of people are) you may find it beneficial to try both Seated Massage and Table Massage. We advise beginning with Seated because sitting in the chair is a gentler way to be introduced to massage therapy. The whole point is to understand and appreciate the effects on your body and mind.
Many people experience a positive feeling after an initial massage and after regular massage therapy, report a greater sense of well-being as their mind and body begins to fully accept the benefits it brings.
